Hemingway Bar

The Hemingway Bar in Prague is always crowded and you may count yourself lucky if you find a spot to sit. The good thing is that this bar seems to have more Czechs than tourists. The Hemingway Bar is one of the best places in Prague to sip fine rum or a cocktail. Would not the great man himself have done this, if he had been in Prague?

Hemingway Bar: Drink and Smoke

Drinking rum and smoking cigars is exactly why people go to the Hemmingway Bar. There are a few restrictions though, smoking is only allowed in front of the bar and anyone in the middle of writing a novel will have to go elsewhere to use his laptop. The Hemingway Bar is without WiFi. In front of the bar are tables and chairs for small groups as well as stools close to the bar. The Chesterfield sofas in the sitting area are comfortable for  lounging. Black-and-white photographs of Hemingway and his friends decorate the walls.

Hemingway Bar

Hemingway would be proud of the cocktails

The drinks menu offers a wide selection, including Hemingway’s favourites: absinthe, rum and champagne. The Hemingway Bar is also famous for its cocktails. Hemingway’s Gasoline: Four Roses Sinkle Barrel whiskey, Campari, Carpano Punt e Mes, Gutierrez Colosia sherry Perdro Ximenez, Walnut bitters; a cocktail Hemingway himself would have been proud of. A pleasant way to spend the evening is a rum tasting experience, which includes several 2 cl samples of rum accompanied by pieces of chocolate, nuts and dried fruit. The cigar menu is almost as extensive as the drinks menu, from Cohiba to Montecristo and from H.Upman to Trinidad.
