Spicy but also mild dishes

‘Spicy’ is what springs to mind when you think of Indian food. However, in Indian Jewel, this word does not mean ‘hot’, but it stands for flavour because in every dish a mix of hundreds of herbs and spices that the chef adds to the dishes which gives each dish a specific taste.
The menu is varied: you will find lentil soup, salads, juicy kebabs, parathas from the tandoori oven and freshly baked Indian naan bread. The menu wouldn’t be complete without the real gems of Indian cuisine: the curries. The menu features dishes hot south of India to the dishes from the sacred north: all caress the palate and leaves you wanting more.

Madras Dishes

Some dishes are served in copper pans such as chicken Madras. This is chicken in a spicy tomato sauce. Madras refers to the use of a certain type of curry powder – to be precise, a mixture of herbs and spices from South India, from the city of Chennai (formerly Madras). Milder in taste is the Tandoori chicken that is marinated in yogurt and saffron. Fish curries can be either spicy or mild in taste.

The drinks menu includes Czech and international wines. Pilsner Urquell goes surprisingly well with Indian food. Also very tasty is lassi, a yogurt drink that is very popular in the northern parts of India. It is made by mixing yogurt with water or milk, salt or sugar and a few spices or herbs. There are many variations to make this drink and every restaurant has its own recipe.
