Still, it is one of the few restaurants in this neighborhood where regular Prague residents come and few tourists. This is good news: no inflated tourist prices!

Affordable Lunch in Gothic Vaults

Enjoy your lunch in the Gothis vaults an ancient building. Vaults may be a bit exaggerated because this beer garden and restaurant is just below street level. Beer GARDEN should be taken with a grain of salt, because most beer gardens in the centre of Prague are inside. The restaurant is quite crowded at lunchtime. Office and other staff working in the area come here for lunch. In the evening, few people come for a meal, everyone comes for the beer.

The Lunch Menu

Pod Petrinem is small. There are only nine tables, each seating six people. That means joining up. The affordable lunch menu has five dishes to choose from, one of which is vegetarian and different dishes every day. Your meal won’t break the bank! If you are hungry, order soup and a main course. Be sure to have a peek at the old photos of the Pilsner Brewery in Plzen that grace the walls.

Beer in a Gothic Cellar and Football

Bur pubs are judged by the beer brands on offer. Pivnice Pod Petrinem has Pilsner Urquell and Velkopopovický Kozel, both light and dark, two of the best Czech beers. Order some snacks with your beer, beer cheese, soft white cheese served onions, peppers and mustard, or grilled sausage with bread and mustard. Football fans can watch their favourite games on the big screen here.

TIP of the Editors of Prague-Now:
Order cevapcici a type of kebab served with finely chopped raw onions, mustard and boiled potatoes, not typical of the Bohemian cuisine, but very tasty.
