Quadrio Shopping Mall and Food Court

Quadrio Shopping Centre opened its doors in 2014 and is the youngest shopping mall in Prague. It is right in the centre and popular with office workers who make a beeline to one of the twenty restaurants in the food court. This Shopping Mall offers 66 shops spread over four floors. Quadrio distinguishes itself from other shopping malls by having Kafka’s rotating head at the back of the building.

Quadrio Shopping Centre: the Shops

The range of shops in Quadrio is not spectacular, yet it is pleasant to spend a few hours here. You will find the Billa supermarket for typical Czech daily groceries. Dermacol cosmetics, a Czech company, Sephora and DM for even more beauty items. Euronics for video, audio, cameras and other electronics, Neoluxor, two floors of books, Sparkeys and HM Studio for toys. Go fashion shopping at Kara, Promod and Calzedonia. Enjoy exquisite food at Polpo, part of the famous Kogo restaurant chain. If you like Indian cuisine, you should definitely visit Bombay Express and for vegans, Loving Hut is highly recommended.

David Černý and Kafka

Kafka’s head is a large sculpture made by the Czech artist David Černý. It is located at the back of the building on a secluded square in Vladislavova Street.

Cerny’s works are often controversial but always inspiring. This installation is 11 meters high and is made of 30 tons of moving stainless steel rotating discs. Once they have moved into the right position, they show Kafka’s face. The head rotates on the hour from 08.00 to 21.00, the show lasts 15 minutes.

Quadrio Shopping Centre: the Building

Quadrio is a multi-functional centre and consists of six buildings. It is next to My Department Store famous for ‘Butterfly Spitfires’ on the facade, another work of art by David Černy.

Narodni trida metro station is located under the building. The building complex consists of three underground and eight above ground floors of which four retail floors. The higher floors contain offices and apartments.

The offices are especially popular because the postal address is Prague 1. Having an address in Prague 1 means more prestige for the business.
