Country Life Restaurant and Shop for Organic Food
Country Life restaurant and shop for organic meals and products is a haven for vegetarians. While the Czechs are meat-lovers and vegetable-haters by tradition, this trend is waning. As a result, vegetarian restaurants are springing up like mushrooms. Even regular restaurants usually have one or two vegetarian dishes on the menu. Most Indian restaurants, such as Dhaba Beas, (behind Quadrio shopping centre) serve excellent vegetarian meals, but Indian cuisine is not to everyone’s taste. Country Life solves this problems as they serve vegetarian and vegan meals and cater for the general public.
Vegetarian meals in the heart of Prague
Country Life offers one of the best vegetarian experiences right in the centre of Prague. Country Life is both a vegetarian restaurant and an organic supermarket for vegetarian and vegan products. The restaurant is vegetarian with vegan options.
Country Life: vegetarian restaurant
If you want to have a vegetarian lunch when sightseeing in the Stare Mesto neighbourhood, the best place to go is Country Life. The restaurant is in buffet-style with a hot selection of at least three main meals per day and a cold section with more than 20 choices. The hot meals are always accompanied by soup, lentils and other pulses.
Country Life: pay by weight
The bonus at Country Life is the free water with your meal, which you will find hardly anywhere in Prague centre. If you do not fancy water, there is wide choice of non-alcoholic drinks (not free), but a pleasant change from the ubiquitous Czech beer. If you like small portions Country Life is your restaurant because you pay for your vegetarian meal by weight. After 4pm the price per 100 grams drops, the snag is that some dishes may have finished.
Country Life intimate, small restaurant
Country Life is a small restaurant with a limited number of tables. Come before noon or after 2pm as this tiny restaurant is always chock full of office and shop workers who come here for a vegetarian meal at lunchtime.
Best organic supermarket in Prague centre
Country Life, founded in 1991, is the place to be for organic products, including natural cosmetics. In addition to the restaurants, Country Life also has four health food stores. They own a 400-acre organic farm that grows grain, fruit and vegetables for the needs of their restaurants and shops. The shops sell organic barley, buckwheat, spelt, oats and rye straight from this farm.
Country Life is in the Stare Mesto neighborhood on the pedestrian route from Wenceslas Square to Old Town Square. Close by is Havelske open air market full of vegetables, fruit, souvenirs and tourists. The nearest metro station is Mustek on lines A and C.
