Cable Car Shortest Funicular in Prague Journey Time One Minute

What would you rather do: one minute in a cable car, a 51-meter hike uphill or a three-kilometer drive in your car. Locals who live close to the cable car know the answer!
This funicular is not (yet) a tourist attraction but it is fun to see and use it. Firstly, because of the view of Prague and secondly it is a good opportunity to see a non-touristy part of the city.

Shortest Cable Car in Prague

This funicular is located in the Smichov district and connects two buildings of Hotel NH Prague and is accessible free of charge. At the bottom is the NH Prague City Hotel and at the top is the NH Collection with the Il Giardino Toscano restaurant.

The entrance to the cable car is a bit difficult to find. Turn left at the receptions of both the lower and upper buildings, and you will see a metal door that looks like a common elevator entrance. You call the funicular, just like you summon an elevator. Simply press the button, you will hear a soft buzzing sound and the cable car is on its way.

Handy for Local Residents

This funicular was built in 1996 and runs via a ramp above a path in the Mrázovka Park that is located between the two hotel buildings. You can use the cable car 24 hours a day, which apparently many Prague residents do especially those who live near the upper hotel building. Anyone can use the cable car free of charge.

Three cable cars in Prague

There are two more cable cars in Prague, but they are much more famous: the funicular to the top of Petrin Hill and the one in Prague Zoo.
